Background

00/00/0000 - The sketches of this piece were done in the back of a book I was reading on the ferry from the Isle of Barra to Oban in Scotland. I don't usually deface books, but the lines of these hills cried out to be captured in some way and I had left my sketch book in the car - unreachable. On returning home I made a design to piece together and selected a mixture of shop bought, batiked, hand dyed and bleached out fabrics to make the place I so admired recognisable. The quilt is individually hand cut, pieced by machiine and hand quilted. The whole piece measures H 37 cms x W 74 cms.
