Grandma's quilt from the farm Made mostly of feed sack calicos by my Grandma Florence Lipscomb as a functional quilt. Feed sacks carried grain and the suppliers used printed cotton, used for everything. This quilt is made from leftovers. My Mom slept under it on a feather mattress. I brought it to Ireland a few years ago because it is like a sign of my heritage and makes me think of West Virginia and the strong women who made do and made beauty out of fragments and put love into it to keep the family warm.
