The Three Mitzvot of Jewish Women This quilt was part of the Journal Quilt exhibit for the Houston Quilt Festival. It is 18" x 22" and the parameters for the show were size and using at least 3 techniques from the book "Creative Quilting." It illustrates the 3 mitzvot (commandments/good deeds) given to Jewish women----family purity, lighting Sabbath candles and separating a portion of bread dough called Challah. The work includes phototransfer using a photo with permission of Lloyd Wolf the photographer, needlefelting, beading, applique, use of found objects (handkerchief), and machine quilting.
