Blue and white stars This quilt kept me busy while on 6 weeks of pre-baby maternity leave after stopping a full time teaching post. It kept my mind occupied as the very hot and long days dragged on. I could just about fit behind the sewing machine by the end - the bump almost prevented it being finished!! Nothing like a deadline :)
Kaffe Fassett large star quilt This quilt was made just after I had my first daughter - I needed something to focus my mind on other than nappies and lack of sleep! I saw this on the front cover of a library book on one of my many walks to the library and just had to make it. The design was super complicated with 23 different fabrics - I don't know quite how all the bits ended up in the right place! Kaffe Fassett is a design genius - his quilts are just stunning - and I loved making it.
Elsa's Dedication Quilt This quilt was made to commemorate my first daught'er dedication. All the guests contributed a piece of fabric, from old shirts to tea-towels. As Elsa was born on the Royal Wedding Day, we also incorporated an Emma Bridgewater teatowel. Each piece has a story and a memory. I made it in the few weeks after the dedication, before she was crawling!!
