Ann Beech
Gorlmey on Sea Inspired by the Anthony Gormley stautes on Crosby Beach; ploughed silk saturated with Procion dyes; the figures created with resin sand and painted and waxed with treasure gold; stitched with a variety of silk and cotton threads to create the shadows on the water
In Flanders Fields I Inspired by the poem of the same name by John MaCrae written during the WWI, the quilt is of hand dyed silk noil, folded and dyed, covered with falling poppies in silk and cotton, with grey thread representing the barbed wire and crosses to commemorate the thousands who died.
