Memories An elderly friend's husband became ill about 20 years ago and while housebound cut up all her discarded cotton dresses into hexagons to cover card templates, about 1,000 of them! He wanted my friend, Judith, to make a quilt with them. However, when he died she put them away and forgot about them. By the time she 'found' them her sight had deteriorated and arthritis in both hands complicated things. When she heard I was a quilter she asked me to put it together. It has taken about 18 months to complete and due to my own illness I asked for help from my group, Ethelburga Quilters, who kindly stitched many roundels for me. I was then able to complete the quilt which will be given to her on her 90th birthday in September.
