Quilts Submitted
Bonfire Beauty This was my first proper attempt at making a quilt, and my first attempt at free motion quilting. I love paper piecing, and love the New York Beauty pattern. This quilt was inspired by fireworks against a night sky
Water Dragon This is a mini quilt, the dragon is freestyle appliqued and then heavily quilted. One of my favourite things to do.
Hexagons traditional pattern for this 1930's repro fabric. I liked this as the hexagons didn't require inset corners!
Rhythms of the Sea (McKenna Ryan) Made for my brother in Canada, this is a McKenna Ryan design - heavily appiqued blocks sewn together to make the quilt. It was lovely using so much beautiful fabric.
Hearts and Angels Crib Quilt This is a simple Irish Chain quilt with some added applique. I wanted it to have a folk art feel. The quilt is heavily free motion machine quilted.
Wedgwood This is a crib quilt made using machine Trapunto. It was great fun to do, and gave an extra edge to the simple Irish chain pattern
Kansas Made from photo realistic fabric from the original Wizard of Oz film. I loved the sepia colours.
Batik Pinwheels This is a crib quilt created from a selection of hand dyed batik fabrics. The quilt now lives in the USA, where the new owner was so pleased with it that she googled the whole town to tell them about it!
ocean songs quilt I love the work of Laurel Burch and, having collected some fabrics from this collection I decided to make a quilt. All of the images on the centre panel have been outline quilted, whilst the patchwork sections surrounding it have been free motion quilted with an abstract sea/fish design
Carolina Lily I made this quilt from hand dyed fabrics appliqued onto a white patchwork background and heavily machine quilted. It was my first attempt at machine applique. It was whilst making this quilt that I learned the value of playing 1960's Motown music very loudly when you're working as it took away the pain of all of the inset corners!
