The Jessie M. King House - 1913

Jessie M King was part of the Glasgow School of artists in the late 19th and the early 20th centuries. This dolls' house was made by King for a child's room for an exhibition of nursery design at the Musée Galliera in Paris in 1913.

The nursery was dominated by a central stained glass window with a frieze illustrating the story of the Frog Prince and painted white furniture. The house is currently on display in the British Galleries at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Jessie M. King was particularly known for her work in illustration and book design and also designed wallpaper and ceramics. In 1902 she won a gold medal for watercolours shown in the Scottish Section at the Turin Exhibition, which was organised by her friend and fellow artist, Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
