This clockwork toy car is based on a real car driven by Malcolm Campbell. Campbell competed in Grand Prix racing and set nine land speed records in the 1920s and 1930s. This car is a model of Campbell's Blue Bird car in which he set his fourth record. This was at Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1928 where the car reached a speed of 206.956 mph. Other model land-speed cars made by the same company  include the Golden Arrow and the Mystery Sunbeam Racer.
