Bring your friends and family to Our Studio at the V&A Museum of Childhood this summer, to create and collaborate with artists, musicians, theatre companies and more. A series of workshops, activities and pop-up performances throughout the summer will mean you can contribute to a growing display at the Museum.

Printing Studio with HATO
Wednesday 10 – Sunday 14 August
Help HATO putting together an alternative guide to the V&A Museum of Childhood’s collection. You can contribute contents to the guide through guided activities for all ages, as well as seeing their live printing on a risograph machine.
Construction Studio with
Wednesday 17 – Sunday 21 August
Join sculptor Matt Shaw in creating an ever- growing play space using simple materials such as cardboard, paper and more. Each day we will focus on a particular display at the Museum, and you will be able to create and play in an environment inspired by them.
Memory Studio with MISSION//MISPLACED MEMORY
Monday 22 – Friday 26 August
Step inside Memory Studio to meet Data Thieves – space travellers collecting pieces of memories from people. An audio-visual installation inviting visitors of all ages to interact with and contribute contents towards the finale performance on Friday 26 August.
PERFORMANCES AND ACTIVITIES
Miniature Musical with Neil Luck
Thursday 28 – Friday 29 July, 13.00-14.00 & 14.30-15.30
Make your own miniature music-theatre performance with live musicians. Use everyday objects, toys, words and pictures to tell your own story.
Can You Can’t Do Something? Rio 2016 with Caroline Goulding
Saturday 6 – Sunday 7 August, 11.00-13.00, 14.00-16.00
Mr Gerald the bow tied writing giraffe wants your help. He’s designing a ‘can you can’t do something?’ bow tie to take to the Rio Paralympic Games 2016. Can you help him with some design ideas?
Old Clothes to Doll’s Clothes with Emma Skinmore
Tuesday 23 August, 10.30-13.00, 14.00-16.00
Get inspired by the Museum’s display of soft toys and dolls, and up-cycle your old socks into beautiful garments for dolls with the help of maker Emma Skinmore. You can bring along your own old socks, or just turn up.
HeadSpace with Kazzum
Monday 29 August – Sunday 4 September
Come and put your head in a box! HeadSpace invites family audiences to place their heads inside what at first appear to be very ordinary cardboard boxes…but these boxes are far from ordinary!
SPECIAL DAILY ACTIVITIES

Help create a unique story inspired by the Museum’s collection and help the staff tell it.
Mondays 8 & 29 August, 14.00-16.00
Be moved by our toy collection to engineer a small moving toy from various materials.
Room of Loose Parts
Tuesday 9, Saturday 27, Sunday 28 & Tuesday 30 August, 11.00-16.00
Drop-in to Room of Loose Parts to explore, construct and play with a variety of materials provided. A space for free exploratory play and performative activities.
Dress to Impress
Monday 15 August, 14.00-16.00
