Folk Family Day
Friday 4 August
A series of music events and performances for children and families, celebrating the rich heritage of English folk traditions and storytelling for children. In collaboration with English Folk Dance and Song Society.
Renowned young folk musician Nick Hart presents interactive singing and dancing sessions that you can join and enjoy. Meet writer-in-residence Ross Montgomery for folk writing challenge, listen to storytelling sessions, and enjoy folk inspired art activities and more.
Journey of Joey
Friday 11 August
Meet Joey the original West End puppet from War Horse, the National Theatre’s award-winning stage adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s novel. Join in activities and events inspired by this incredible puppet.
Little Angel Theatre will bring a day-long participatory puppet making and the finale parade will take place at 14.00. Help writer-in-residence Ross Montgomery in writing his new book War Pigeon at our playful writing activity, create your own paper puppet, and have a go at handling rod puppets.

Michael Morpurgo’s stories conjure beautiful scenes of nature and charming animals. Enjoy a day full of wildlife themed activities including real animals, visiting the Museum garden from Spitalfield City Farm!

Judge a book by its cover! Meet book and printmakers for fun activities and discover the world of book design and illustration.
Meet the illustrator of Morpurgo’s Beauty and the Beast, Loretta Schauer, and try illustrating yourself, or join a book making workshop by London Centre of Book Arts.
