community projects

In 2002 the Museum launched it’s community strategy, which identified the potential for reaching out to a local audience.

Today, the Museum’s community programme aims to foster relations with a whole range of voluntary and statutory partners. Working with local schools, colleges, universities, community and arts organisations and cultural interest groups, it provides an introduction to the Museum for countless newcomers.

A critical link with the collections has always been a key inspirational starting point for the work taking place, whether in the Museum or off-site. Every project’s outcome returns to the Museum in some way – as a performance, installation or display.
