Kermit the Frog, made between 1976-1980. Museum no. Misc. 386. 1984
Many toy animals are based on characters in books or from television programmes. Kermit is a well-loved character from The Muppet Show. He is probably the most famous of Jim Henson's puppet creations. He was created in 1956 and named after Henson's childhood friend, Kermit Scott, with whom he caught frogs.
