Once Upon a Tree by Maureen Valfort
Traditional cut-outs and silhouettes have always inspired my work. My pictures often tell stories but by leaving them as simple silhouettes I challenge the viewer to invent their own story. In this print I wanted the trees and the fairy tale creatures to interlock and merge into one intriguing landscape. I like the idea that the negative shapes are as important as the positive shapes.
