In the spring of 2010, five artists – metalsmith Steven Follen, rickshaw painter Tapan Das, paper artist Thurle Wright, textile designer Lokesh Ghai and fine artist Tarun Ghosh – participated in an international exchange between Bangladesh, India and the UK, spending time in each other’s countries and cultural contexts, and exploring both rural and urban settings.

Sense of Place looks at the impact their journeys made, also showing how the Museum’s collection has inspired some of the artists’ new work.

A curatorial collaboration with A Fine Line, and in partnership with The Harley Gallery. Supported
by Arts Council England, the Wates Foundation, the Helen Hamlyn Trust and the Aldgate and Allhallows Exhibition Foundation.
