A delicious helping of memories from field to fork!
29 January - 8 May 2011

Food plays a central role in all our lives. Everyone has childhood memories of food, good and bad, be it their mum's cooking, school dinners or being told to 'eat your greens'.

Major exhibition Food Glorious Food explores how food affects our everyday lives, comparing our diets today with those of the last hundred years, including Edwardian, Second World War, post-war, and the 1980s. The exhibition also looks at how food is grown and where it comes from, who does the cooking, changes in food preparation and the pleasure of eating.

What does British food mean to you? Fish and chips, apple pie and custard or Chicken Tikka Masala? Should food be fuel or a pleasure? How do we make sense of all the growing issues surrounding food - organic versus GM produce, mass-production versus local produce?
