For me to make the Crown of Thorns it was a very hands on project because I had to make the piece by myself and fit it to myself as I was making it. I hand-wove the branches in silver to get the real crossover of branches as the main structure and then I hand-filed every thorn one by one. I then filed each one different lengths to give a real organic natural feel to the piece and then soldered them on one by one. Trying the piece on repeatedly to make sure the balance, the composition of the thorns, everything was totally proportionately quite beautiful. But too, to make sure the piece was comfortable to wear and the thorns didn’t pierce into the head. It was quite a feat to create.
