Book Conservation Studio
When the Book Conservation Section moved into the new studio on the top floor of the RCA block in December 1995, it converged from four separate workshops, up to two miles apart. Since 1962, the main workshop with most of the equipment had been in a basement with no natural light, next to the Printing section.
A choir book from Florence
The choir book was made around 1380 in Tuscany, probably Florence. It was made for a house of the Camaldolese order, probably for nuns rather than monks
Apocalypse & the Book of Revelation
The apocalypse comes from the Book of Revelation, the last book of the Bible, which describes the final battle between God and Satan – Armageddon. During the medieval period, scenes and images from the Book of Revelation, and the idea of the Apocalypse had a widespread influence on many aspects of culture.
Photographic books from the V&A collection
Photographic books are almost as old as photography itself. The V&A has been collecting photographic books since 1852 and many may be seen and handled on request in both the National Art Library and the Prints and Drawings Study Room.
