The 1910s were a period of dramatic change in fashion. Though many trends had their roots in fashions of the previous decade, World War I cemented the move towards more practical, less restrictive clothing.

The increasing profile of women in the work place required a new fashion aesthetic, and the decade witnessed the emergence of 'Power Dressing'. The period also saw the display of lavish evening wear, as exemplified by the opulent dresses of Oscar de la Renta.
Fashion in Motion: Ma Ke Wuyong
The Ma Ke Wuyong Fashion in Motion live catwalk event took place on May 16 2008. Ma Ke is one of the most prolific fashion designers working in China today, she graduated from the Suzhou Institute of Silk Textile Technology in 1992 and four years later set up her own label Exception de Mixmind.
