John Pierpont Morgan was a banker, financier and art collector who loaned a portion of his collection to the Museum. His collection of stained glass was given to the Museum by his son.

In about 1862 Dante Gabriel Rossetti designed this series of six stained-glass windows telling the story of St George. It was the first successful commission as decorators of the company Morris, Marshall & Faulkner.
