The quiet melodrama of Henson's photographs, and in particular his handling of light to create a transcendent effect, suggests a contemporary reworking of the Sublime.

Chrystel Lebas shot the Abyss series in forests where twilight heralds their loss, rather than creating a theatrical abundance of light and colour. Using a panoramic camera and long exposures, Lebas observes the effects of the fading light, creating images that contain an imprint of the event as it unfolds over time.
Photographic books from the V&A collection
Photographic books are almost as old as photography itself. The V&A has been collecting photographic books since 1852 and many may be seen and handled on request in both the National Art Library and the Prints and Drawings Study Room.
Conservation Department seminar report
The Victoria and Albert Museum hosted a joint meeting with the Institute of Conservation Science. Over 50 people attended the meeting, which consisted of a series of five presentations on three topics.

British watercolours 1750-1900: depicting the elements
According to the drawing master, Alexander Cozens, landscape could be codified into three categories: 'Composition', 'Objects' and 'Circumstance'. The last included the seasons, times of day, such as the setting sun, and accidents such as fog, rain or 'the intermixture of the sky, or clouds with the landscape'.
