About our visitor research
One of the main aims for the V&A is to make our gallery developments and events and activities visitor-focused and so we have an active and wide-ranging programme of visitor research. This includes research done for galleries; visitor research; and evaluation of learning and interpretation programmes.
Code of good practice in research
This Code of Practice sets out standards of performance and conduct expected of all staff, students and contracted personnel engaged in research at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Conference proceedings: interactive learning in Museums of Art
This major international conference considered whether the interactive interpretation so common in museums of science and technology is appropriate in an art and design context.
Future challenges for RCA/V&A conservation
The RCA/V& A Conservation Masters' programme is unique. It is a fully validated postgraduate course taught entirely within the museum context. However, our very uniqueness is our Achilles heel.
LGBTQ histories at the V&A
Lesbian, Gay, bisexual, transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) histories are a relatively new research subject for museums. Over the past few generations public attitudes to sexuality have undergone a seismic shift but museums have been slow to reflect these changes. The V&A's new LGBTQ programme aims to address this omission.
A gift in your will
You may not have thought of including a gift to a museum in your will, but the V&A is a charity and legacies form an important source of funding for our work. It is not just the great collectors and the wealthy who leave legacies to the V&A. Legacies of all sizes, large and small, make a real difference to what we can do and your support can help ensure that future generations enjoy the V&A as much as you have.
