These images are taken from a short visual book depicting artists integral to the Free Jazz movement. The construction of the book is so that it can be accessed from front or back with no definitive orientation. In this way the book's structure is almost not existent and because of this, each image has no correct perspective to be viewed from. The reason for this is to harmonise with the freedom within the structure of the music that the featured artists created. Within each image are references to that particular artists life and history and these references are portrayed with the use of geometric abstraction; whether they are notes on a musical scale, the sky scrapers of the cities they lived in or the network of the metro beneath their feet.
