Selected illustrations from an interpretation of the little known Grimm's fairytale, 'The Mouse, The Bird and The Sausage'. The book was created using collage, combining a variety of materials and techniques. The Bird was created from a combination of metalwork and printmaking, allowing a 3D sculptural character to live within a children's book. Typography was highly considered and playful, showing movement that related to the story, creating interesting book design. The combination of character design and surface textures created a highly visual and stimulating children's book, refreshing and modernising the traditional illustration usually found within the Brothers Grimm's stories.
