These illustrations are based on the native american story of coyote their trickster god. In this story coyote has a ravenous apetite and will eat anything whether its wise or not. The aim of these illustrations to show the wise implications of the rose-hips for they warm coyote that eating to many of them will cause terrible outcome and the human foolishness of coyote who will take whatever he pleases and suffer the costs of such greed. I want the colours and water like atmosphere they produce to infer a dream like quality, this is also the reason for the allowance of large amounts of negative space, as this tale was set in the dream time of the lakota tribe.( native americans)
