This submission follows a University project on sound which required each student to choose and illustrate a noise; quite an unusual and interesting task, as it evokes misplacement of the senses. I began to envision sound with my ears and listen to it with my eyes. I chose to illustrate ‘A Wilhelm Scream’ – a sound effect often used in film and television; resonances of which provoke the viewer’s imagination, leading them to assume a person is falling from a great height and for a very long time.
