Christine of Lorraine (1565-1636) was the wife of Ferdinando I de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, who died in 1609. This formal portrait medal shows her in widow's dress, dominated by an extensive veil. Dupré was principal sculptor to the King of France but made this medal during a visit to Italy.
