'The Sadaf women had only one proviso - they wished to do something which featured animals. Noah’s Ark was suggested as a theme and was accepted. The fact that this and other ‘Old Testament’ stories were held in common by both Muslims and Christians was a bonus.' Group Leader

'The opportunity to participate in the Mughal Tent project was very important to us in Blackburn. The Town has a large Asian population - some 15% of the total. Some of them have lived here for many years, having come originally during the long lost days of prosperity in the textile industry. Many people came from the state of Gujarat in India, or from neighbouring areas in Pakistan.' Group Leader

'Our group is made up of women from various cultures. It became clear that our central theme was how women's lives follow a similar pattern no matter what their cultural background. This is shown in the panel with the life journey beginning at birth, represented by the pregnant woman and next to her a woman holding a baby....'

'The Kanwal Group’s piece became about the destruction of civilisation and culture of agents of war - represented by guns, helicopters and explosions and flames featured in the border as well as the main panel. Images came from media and reference books. Culture is represented by pots on the right side of the hanging, one of which is broken. The small mihrab shapes contain representations of families, peace, agriculture and food. The bottom sections represent the broken remnants and the debris of war with the whirlpool sucking lost security into its depths.' Group Leader
