    Paper markers were used to identify gaps through which adhesive could be introduced.

    紙のマーカーを使い、修理材が注入できる間隙のある箇所に印をつけました。

    This image, taken prior to conservation, shows, to the right, wrinkling and lifting of gold foil caused by movement of the substrate induced by fluctuations in RH. To the left, an area of gold foil has been lost completely. Tarnishing of the silver foil in the centre of the image can also be seen.

    修理前のこの写真の右側は、相対湿度の変動による木地のくるいを原因とする、金の薄板の皺と剥離を示すものです。左側では金の薄板が完全に欠失しています。さらに中央の銀の薄板の変色も認められます。

    Where it was safe to do so, a spatula was used to lift loose areas of the gold foil to aid penetration of the adhesive (Paraloid B48N).

    安全な場合に限り、修理材（パラロイドB48N）の含浸を促進させるため、金の薄板の剥離部分をへらで持ち上げました。

    Gentle pressure was applied by means of sandwiches of silicone rubber, Perspex and PVC sheet braced with flexible bamboo sticks (shimbari) against a wooden frame while the adhesive that had been introduced under the gold foil dried.

    金の薄板の下に注入された修理材を乾かす過程で、シリコンゴム、アクリル板、塩化ビニール板から成るサンドイッチ板を使い、木枠に張られたシンバリ（しなやかな竹棒）により軽く圧着をかけました。
