Taylor exhibited numerous photographs at the Photographic Society of London's annual displays from 1855 to 1859. This image is a closely-cropped view of a field of wheat. As seen elsewhere in the 1858 exhibition of photographs held at the South Kensington Museum, detailed studies of this kind were commonly produced and displayed, and Taylor was well known for his plant studies and landscapes. The artist published his professional memoirs at the end of the 19th century.
