Odeon Cinema
22-24 Leicester Square, London, WC2H 7LQ
Architects: H. Weedon & A. Mather, 1937
Odeon's flagship cinema was designed to look different to their other cinemas.
Rather than the usual cladding of beige tiles, Leicester Square has impressive black granite facings. Combined with a 120 foot tower and neon lights, the building was, and still is, highly impressive.
The interior is less extravagant, but still includes original features such as a Compton organ and plaster sculptures on the auditorium walls.
Accessible during normal opening hours.
