Eltham Palace
In the early 1930s, Stephen and Virginia Courtauld commissioned an exotic and flamboyant Art Deco extension. The fifteenth century Great Hall of the original palace was also restored and used as a sitting room. Features of the house include a vaulted bathroom lined with onyx and gold mosaic, and a dining room with black and silver doors showing exotic birds and animals.

Barbican Screen - Art Deco on Film

Barbican Screen presents a film season capturing the essence
of Art Deco. Titles include Grand Hotel, Metropolis, Swing Time
and 42nd Street and depict Art Deco style as it was reflected
on film, particularly in set and costume design. The season
explores the origins of the style in European cinema, its depiction
in early French, Russian and British films and the opulent,
lavish and often exotic MGM movies of 1930s Hollywood.
