The widespread introduction of digital technology in the nineties revolutionised practice in design and art direction. So did the rapid growth of the internet. Designers now had a potent new interactive medium to play with and the D&AD Awards responded with an Interactive Media category in 1997. This swiftly took off as new digital start-ups and traditional brands both looked to exploit new media. But such is the pace of digital change that a winner one-year could look very dated just 12 months later. |
