Purple canvas boots
Designed by Barbara Hulanicki for Biba, London,
1969-70
T.67+A-1985

High boots were initially worn to complement mini skirts which exposed the leg. By the time these knee-length boots were being sold in Biba, Barbara Hulanicki had also popularised the maxi skirt. It was as dramatically long as the mini was brief.
This pair of boots has high, slightly flared heels and broad, squared off toes. The canvas is seamed and top stitched and the boot tops are darted to give a closer fit. The boots fasten at the side with a sturdy zip.
