Cream worsted wool
dress and jacket with blue spandex trim
Designed by Courrèges, Paris, 1965
T.304: 1&2-2000
Blue plastic
piping emphasises the structure of this outfit. The double-breasted coat
covers a short, sleeveless dress. Many young French people wore this
combination of blue and white in the mid sixties, known as the
'matelot' (sailor) style.
The dress has two short splits on either side and two pocket flaps.
It fastens at the back with buttons to the waist. The back of the coat has
two blue-edged vents cut as far as the waistline.
