'Expansion' furnishing fabric

Expansion screen printed cotton satin furnishing fabric
Designed by Barbara Brown for Heals, London, 1966
CIRC.269-1967

This Op Art scheme resembles the paintings of Bridget Riley, a young British artist. She painted abstract schemes based on mathematical formulas. These allowed her to create images which gave the illusion of motion. Barbara Brown taught printed textiles at Medway College and Zandra Rhodes was among her students.
