Hamdi El Attar was an Egyptian resident in Germany. He worked together with his wife to produce fabrics, carpets and wall hangings. The Heals leaflet from 1968 suggests that:
'The abstract and geometric quality of such designs as... 'Lariat' lend themselves beautifully to wall hangings as well as the standard uses of furnishing fabrics.'
