Two paper dresses
with psychedelic print, one long and one mini
Designed by Dispo, London, 1967
T.176-1986 and T.181-1986
Paper seems like an insubstantial material from which to make clothing.
However, these jazzy dresses were strong enough to withstand one wash
and iron. Much of the ordinary clothing sold in boutiques was criticised for
being badly made. Yet customers were more interested in style than quality.
In this era of experimentation, garments might be worn only a couple of times
and then discarded.
