The first man to walk in space was the Russian cosmonaut Alexei Leonov, who spent twenty minutes floating outside the Voskhod 2 spacecraft on March 18, 1965. Like the astronauts in this printed fabric, Leonov was attached to his craft by a tether. However, when he attempted to re-enter the airlock, he discovered that his suit had enlarged and he had to spend several tense minutes deflating it before he could squeeze back inside. The spacecraft then landed off its target in the Ural mountains where the crew spent the night surrounded by wolves before they were rescued. This Pop-styled fabric immortalises the adventurous spirit of the astronauts who raced to reach the moon.
