Snap Happy Days, in association with BBC FOUR

"Everyone is an artist". Lomography World President, 2002.

Everyone is creative, though often creativity gets squeezed out of our everyday lives. There are so many ways in which creativity can easily be incorporated into our daily routine. Some artforms are readily accessible. Photography is one of the most democratic arts -images to inspire us are everywhere and most people understand the principle of using a camera.

"Don't think, just shoot" The Lomographic Society.

It can sometimes be hard to be creative for fear of not being good at it, so the V&A decided to stage Snap Happy Days, a nine-day photography event at the V&A from 15 to 23 February, where visitors of all ages worked creatively with photographers. They helped visitors create their own photography using photobooths, instant cameras and Lomo cameras. Such equipment proves that location, film/developing techniques and camera control can be irrelevant when creating great photography. Visitors took their own pictures and contribute to an exhibition of fresh, creative images.

The founding mission of the V&A was to inspire creativity, with professional artists and designers as well as the general visitor. This mission continues at the V&A today. The V&A wants to show the best of what is being created now and what has been produced in the past. The V&A is a resource which is available to everyone to come and be inspired.

"Don't think" One of the Lomography Golden Rule.

If you didn't have a chance to come and take part in the Snap Happy event, explore this website and find tips on creative snapshot photography, see what others have done, and explore the background to snapshot photography.
