Vase, about 1893

Ault Pottery, Swadlincote, Derbyshire

William Ault founded the pottery in 1887 to compete with the Linthorpe pottery. In 1889, when Linthorpe closed down, Ault acquired a number of the Linthorpe moulds. These models were produced by the Ault Pottery at least until Dresser's death in 1904.

In 1893 Dresser signed a contract with the firm to supply new designs, specifying that the pots should be marked with his signature in facsimile.
