Teapot, about 1880

Toast Rack, 1879

James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield, Yorkshire

The company, founded about 1806, was one of the pioneers of the new electroplating process (silver-plating on base metal). Between 1879 and 1882 Dresser sold about 37 designs to the firm, but not all were put into production.

Dresser's teapots for Dixon's are the most radical designs of his career. In many instances their inspiration is Japanese.
