When Queen Maud arrived in Norway in 1905, she was 36 years old and a well-established customer of British and French fashion designers. Her coronation dress was a collaboration between British and Norwegian fashion houses and over the years, she also purchased clothes from a few designers and sportswear specialists in Oslo. This colourful day dress by the Oslo designer, Sylvian, illustrates a lively interpretation of 1920s fashion.
