Thalatha Haqq (Three Truths), 1992
These three glass pyramids by Faisal Abdu' Allah (born 1969) celebrate the artist's conversion to Islam in 1991. Each pyramid is printed on all four sides with an image of the artist at a different stage of prayer. Like many black British people of his generation, Faisal Abdu'Allah felt Islam better reflected his sense of identity as a person of African origin than the Christian faith he had grown up with.

Both the materials and the three pyramid forms are highly symbolic. Continued...
