The
Canon Photography Gallery at the V&A will be exhibiting three key bodies
of photographic work made in Japan - Felice Beato's hand-coloured views
of Japanese life and landscape in the 1860s, Masahisa Fukase's emotionally
charged 'Ravens' series from 1975-1985, and the 'Underground' project
by the innovative contemporary photographer Naoya Hatakeyama. A study
day on 9 November will be held to complement the exhibition.
