CLAIRE WILCOX BIOGRAPHY

Claire Wilcox is a Curator in the V&A's Department of Textiles and Dress, with responsibility for the 20th century and contemporary dress collections. In 1999, she devised the extremely popular monthly live event 'Fashion in Motion', which features the work of contemporary designers worn by models who walk through the V&A's galleries. Claire started the event showcasing the hats of Phillip Treacy and moved on to work with Alexander McQueen, Christian Lacroix and Stella McCartney for Chloë, among others. As well as curating Radical Fashion, she is researching a retrospective exhibition on Vivienne Westwood due to be shown at the V&A in 2004.

She curated the 1998 Crafts Council exhibition 'Satellites of Fashion' in London and lectures regularly. Her published work includes the highly successful Modern Fashion in Detail (1998), A Century of Bags (1998) and Bags (1999).
