Context

Keith Jeffery was appointed as Director for Festivals and External Affairs in 1971 and festivals came to constitute a significant category of recipients of Council subsidy. In 1979/80 the new Regional Department took over responsibilities for mixed media festivals from Jefferys. He continued with the Arts Council as the Adviser for External Affairs until his retirement in 1983.

Scope and content

This series contains those files which belonged to Keith Jeffery in his role as Director for Festivals and External Affairs and then as Adviser for External Affairs.

Many of the records relate to external institutions and organisation, reflecting the considerable liaison work carried by Keith Jeffery on behalf of the Arts Council. There are also general administration and policy files including meeting agendas and minutes.
