Scope and content

This series consists of the files which were kept by the Visual Arts Department on individuals and individual organisations. Ordinarily these individuals and organisations were Arts Council clients and the files therefore contain papers relating to the funding they received. This is not always the case, however, and some files concern individuals and organisations with whom theArts Council had a non-funding relationship.

For more information relating to client funding by the Visual Arts Department, see also ACGB/31 which contains all the papers, where they are distinguishable, which relate to this topic. For the Visual Arts Department's relationship with and funding of the regions and Regional Arts Associations, see ACGB/33. Finally, see ACGB/32 for the minutes and papers of various Committees and Panels (some of which were responsible for decisions relating to client funding) and also miscellaneous material from the Visual Arts Department.

Access to unpublished material less than 30 years old is subject to the written permission of the Arts Council of England. Apply in the first instance to the Archive of Art and Design at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
