This series contains papers relating to a number of different subjects. Firstly it contains those relating to the administration and policy of the Literature Department, such as the minutes and papers of the various Advisory Panels and Committees serviced by the department, general financial information, policy files, papers relating to dealings with other Arts Council departments and cross-departmental initiatives.
Secondly it contains reports and papers relating to conferences, enquiries, publications and research on literature and other arts affairs. Finally it contains miscellaneous material, such as correspondence and printed ephemera, that was kept for informational purposes.

The items in this series are arranged chronologically.

Access to unpublished material less than 30 years old is subject to the written permission of the Arts Council of England. Apply in the first instance to the Archive of Art and Design at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
