This series contains papers relating to major areas of direct promotion by the Literature Department. Direct promotion consisted of activities carried out directly by the Arts Council itself and not through another body or client. In the case of the Literature Departmentthese included writers' tours, the Poetry Library, the Arts Council Shop, anthologies of new stories and poetry, recitals and readings and awards scheme.
